Your name is Dave Strider. Usually you'd start this by saying how cool you are, but that's not actually true. You aren't actually all that cool nor do you actually care. You're old enough to have graduated college but you never went. You just can't really do this people thing, which is why it's so surprising as to how you got your job. You're a daycare worker at some place in the richer area of the city. Kids love you. You have no idea why. It's really weird, but you're not going to try and make a big deal out of it. You get paid well after all. Even though it's your main income, you actually do fairly well with your website. You DJ and you release original music on it and it makes pretty good money. Enough that if you ever lost your job, it would still support you.

You kind of grew up as this really tall, skinny shit. It's your damn metabolism and the only reason you aren't as skinny as you are is because your Bro made sure of it and you actually work out when you have time. That doesn't help with you being paler than any Twilight vampire and being assaulted by freckles. Also your hair kind of freaks people out or everyone thinks you dye it or something. Whatever.

It so happens that you're waiting for the last kid to get picked up. You're still trying to figure out how on Earth Rose somehow became a mom, but whatever. Apparently someone else is picking the kid up today and he's waiting for that person to do so. Seriously, it would be nice if they weren't so late.

[Dave doesn't say anything, keeping his stare at the wall.]

...

You don't have to sleep in the other room. [It came out more like a mumble.]

[longwinded]

Okay.

[He answers just as quietly. Partly because he doesn't want to stir the other anymore, and partly because he is listening for the doorbell. He cranes his neck a little and places a kiss on the back of Dave's head.]

I think I'd like that.

[knightime]

It'll give us more room to put shit in the spare and we can just rearrange this room to fit your shit in.

[His voice falters a little. This is kind of a huge deal. He hasn't really considered something like this in awhile.]

[longwinded]

[This is a really big step for Dave, and John is kind of holding back his excitement. He makes a little grab for Dave's hands.]

We can rearrange the other room into a place to do music. Like a studio if we wanted.

[knightime]

[Dave swats at John's hand.] Get the pizza numbnuts.

We don't really need to rush figuring out what to do with the room

[longwinded]

[Eeeeeh, fine John will roll out of bed now.] We can take our time. No big deal.

[John has wandered off to his room to get his wallet and go to the door. Those pizza and wings with added bonus of free coke have been obtained.]

Dave, it's on the table.

[knightime]

[There's a thud. That is the noise of Dave rolling off the bed because he's that lazy. Few minutes later, Dave comes out from the room to the kitchen, shades back in place.]

[longwinded]

[John looks back towards Dave's room. Welp. Dave better be okay, there is pizza at stake here. So while he waits for Dave he just opens the pizza box and the wings boxs- making sure they're ready to dig into.

When Dave does get to the kitchen, John goes to retrieve glasses for them to drink the coke.]

We finally made it out of bed. We are winners.

[He takes a seat and promptly drops his face against the table.]

Shut up. We could easily get out of bed if we had too. Obviously we didn't. [Dave really sucks at getting out of bed. How he gets up for his daycare job is a feat in itself.]

[longwinded]

[John sits next to him, he doesn't know how to keep his hands to himself. So he is kind of stroking the back of Dave's head.]

Right. We just stayed in bed all day. It was pretty great.

[knightime]

[He finally sits upright and moves to grab one of the slices of pizza.]

Can't do that everyday though.

[longwinded]

Unfortunately I do have a work shift tomorrow. So no we can't do that every day.

[He takes a slice of pizza, showing down. John is a fatty so he just takes some of those delicious hotwings too.]

For calling out today I have to close tomorrow. Which is pretty lame, but I'm used to that.

[knightime]

[Dave will eat at a normal pace. You crazy.]

I rather work later than earlier. I don't know how people can wake up so early on a daily basis. This shit is fucking tiring.

[longwinded]

[He's taking his time. He swears. But this is the first real food he has had today. He didn't eat his own breakfast as dumb as that sounds.]

Four to nine isn't so bad either. That's when my department closes anyways. Getting up early is not something I enjoy doing.

[Did either of them really eat?]

It's a load of shit and the children are all devils. I don't know how they can be so energetic in the morning. I'm telling you, they suck the energy out of people. That's how they never stop having energy and why we're always tired when dealing with them.

[longwinded]

[Nope. They honestly didn't.]

The children really do love you though. I don't think they want another worker taking care of them. You do let them put bows in your hair, and occasionally do your makeup.

[knightime]

[What idiots.]

I don't know why they like me so much. Maybe because they can't get anyone else who'll succumb to their devilish doings. Brats.

[longwinded]

[they are ranking so high on the stupid chart.]

Devilish doings? Come on Dave, they aren't little servants of Satan. They probably just really like you. Who wouldn't want to play with your hair anyways? It's soft as fuck.

I sometimes think they are. You don't understand what happens after lunchtime. It's fucking hell.

Do you like playing with my hair, John? [That's a really loaded question.]

[longwinded]

I don't get there until way after lunchtime.

If you would let me, I would. It puts some people to sleep, or it just feels nice. [He's never truly gotten to play with Dave's hair. He's just kind of pet it a couple of times today. But never...played with it.]

[knightime]

I never said you couldn't. [It wasn't really a concrete way of giving permission, but it wasn't really saying John couldn't. Dave is just being vague at this point.]

[longwinded]

[He reaches over, threading some of Dave's hair into his fingers, letting it go, and twirling a piece. Basically. Just all up in Dave's business now that he has all of this permission.]

I think I love playing with your hair.

[knightime]

You're a goddamn girl.

[But Dave visibly relaxed even as he spoke.]

[longwinded]

At least I'm a pretty girl.

[John has decided he is done eating. Kitchen chairs aren't the best place to play with you love interests hair, but it's a thing that is happening.]

You wish.

[Dave rests his head on his arms. Apparently he's done eating for now, since John seems to be pretty preoccupied.]
