Your name is Dave Strider. Usually you'd start this by saying how cool you are, but that's not actually true. You aren't actually all that cool nor do you actually care. You're old enough to have graduated college but you never went. You just can't really do this people thing, which is why it's so surprising as to how you got your job. You're a daycare worker at some place in the richer area of the city. Kids love you. You have no idea why. It's really weird, but you're not going to try and make a big deal out of it. You get paid well after all. Even though it's your main income, you actually do fairly well with your website. You DJ and you release original music on it and it makes pretty good money. Enough that if you ever lost your job, it would still support you.

You kind of grew up as this really tall, skinny shit. It's your damn metabolism and the only reason you aren't as skinny as you are is because your Bro made sure of it and you actually work out when you have time. That doesn't help with you being paler than any Twilight vampire and being assaulted by freckles. Also your hair kind of freaks people out or everyone thinks you dye it or something. Whatever.

It so happens that you're waiting for the last kid to get picked up. You're still trying to figure out how on Earth Rose somehow became a mom, but whatever. Apparently someone else is picking the kid up today and he's waiting for that person to do so. Seriously, it would be nice if they weren't so late.

Unfortunately I do have a work shift tomorrow. So no we can't do that every day.

[He takes a slice of pizza, showing down. John is a fatty so he just takes some of those delicious hotwings too.]

For calling out today I have to close tomorrow. Which is pretty lame, but I'm used to that.

[Dave will eat at a normal pace. You crazy.]

I rather work later than earlier. I don't know how people can wake up so early on a daily basis. This shit is fucking tiring.

[He's taking his time. He swears. But this is the first real food he has had today. He didn't eat his own breakfast as dumb as that sounds.]

Four to nine isn't so bad either. That's when my department closes anyways. Getting up early is not something I enjoy doing.

It's a load of shit and the children are all devils. I don't know how they can be so energetic in the morning. I'm telling you, they suck the energy out of people. That's how they never stop having energy and why we're always tired when dealing with them.

[Nope. They honestly didn't.]

The children really do love you though. I don't think they want another worker taking care of them. You do let them put bows in your hair, and occasionally do your makeup.

I don't know why they like me so much. Maybe because they can't get anyone else who'll succumb to their devilish doings. Brats.

[longwinded]

Devilish doings? Come on Dave, they aren't little servants of Satan. They probably just really like you. Who wouldn't want to play with your hair anyways? It's soft as fuck.

I sometimes think they are. You don't understand what happens after lunchtime. It's fucking hell.

Do you like playing with my hair, John? [That's a really loaded question.]

[longwinded]

I don't get there until way after lunchtime.

If you would let me, I would. It puts some people to sleep, or it just feels nice. [He's never truly gotten to play with Dave's hair. He's just kind of pet it a couple of times today. But never...played with it.]

I never said you couldn't. [It wasn't really a concrete way of giving permission, but it wasn't really saying John couldn't. Dave is just being vague at this point.]

[longwinded]

[He reaches over, threading some of Dave's hair into his fingers, letting it go, and twirling a piece. Basically. Just all up in Dave's business now that he has all of this permission.]

I think I love playing with your hair.

You're a goddamn girl.

[But Dave visibly relaxed even as he spoke.]

[longwinded]

At least I'm a pretty girl.

[John has decided he is done eating. Kitchen chairs aren't the best place to play with you love interests hair, but it's a thing that is happening.]

You wish.

[Dave rests his head on his arms. Apparently he's done eating for now, since John seems to be pretty preoccupied.]

[longwinded]

[John continues doing that until his arm gets tired. He would be much more comfortable on the couch.]

Sorry Dave, you can finish eating now. [He takes his own plate and cup to the kitchen and then sits his little Egbert butt on the couch. Dave could totally join him if he wanted.]

[Dave was getting comfortable, you jackass. But he probably ears another slice or two, before putting the leftovers into the fridge.

And then he just stands over John and the couch, not sitting down.

Like a loser.]

[longwinded]

[John just opens his arms, all casual like.

His lap is free. There is enough Egbert for one Strider.]

C'mon Dave. Sit with me?

[knightime]

[Dave stands there for a moment longer before finally sits down on the couch with John. He isn't quite sitting on John, but he has his legs splayed across John's lap.]

[longwinded]

[John rests his arms on Dave's legs. He grins pretty wide. This made him so excited for some reason. Just being able to be right here.]

Tired again?

[knightime]

You wanted me to sit down. Make up your mind, John. [Gosh. But there's no bite to his words. He's become pretty docile now.]

[longwinded]

I'm not saying we're moving again. [But he does readjust so that he can run his hand through Dave's hair again. He plans on sleeping here if Dave really doesn't want to move again.]

[knightime]

[Dave just completely relaxes, letting his head rest against John's shoulder while he ran his fingers through his hair. He let out a small sigh.] Are you implying that you'd make sure I can't get back up?

[longwinded]

Totally. We're never moving again.

[But that is pretty sarcastic. He just leans over and kisses Dave's forehead. Resuming his hair stroking afterwards. It's good to know there is something out there that makes Dave relax like this.]

[knightime]

Because we don't have work and bills to pay, obviously.

[You're gonna put him straight back to sleep if you keep this up, you asshole.]

[longwinded]

No way. Those things don't even exist.

[John leans around again. Kissing Dave on the lips. He stops petting the others hair just for a moment to do it. John is just incapable of doing two things at once it seems.]

Paying bills is overrated.
