[Dave is getting so used to this whole memory loss ordeal that it's gotten easier to assume the obvious.]

[ He sighs. ] Yeah, I guess.

No, there's one more thing. [ He whips another memory charm out of his pocket and goes to affix it to Dave's bracelet, while at the same time surreptitiously attempting to remove a few in hopes of nabbing whichever one Dave was being cagey as fuck about before.

Normally Dirk wouldn't advocate taking a shortcut in something as crucial as learning how to swim, but he has ulterior motives here. ]

[Oh hell no. Dave isn't dumb. He kind of jerks his arm out of Dirk's grasps. It did successfully knock one or two of the charms off the bracelet though.

Despite the shades, Dave's mouth was in a firm frown and it's obvious he's gritting his teeth.]

Clever. [ He does grab the two that were knocked off, though. He turns away from Dave just enough to be able to clip them to his own bracelet without being molested. ]

[The first memory is the one of Bro's dead body being found. Dave has had that one for awhile now.

The second one...

It starts off seemingly wonderful. The land is surrounded by trolls and humans both. It's obvious by their blank, white eyes that they're dead, but everyone is together in one place. It's obvious that the memory belongs to one of the Dead Daves and that they're a few of them there. A sarcophagus starts landing, everyone's attention turned towards it. What comes out is a monstrous green creature.

It only takes a moment, but whatever the large creature shoots out of its mouth destroys the entire place along with everyone that was present in it.]

[ Either one of them on their own would have been okay. Dirk could have handled one of them.

He'd already seen Dave's memory of finding Sis's dead body. And he already knows that there's another timeline out there where Dave has an older brother instead, so it only stands to reason that a memory like this would exist as well. So as disconcerting as it is to suddenly "remember" coming face to face with a corpse that looks remarkably like himself, he could have dealt with it.

The other one, he doesn't really know what to make of. Though he's sure it's the one he'd been trying for: He's watching this all through the eyes of a dead doomed Dave in a dream bubble, though he's still not 100% clear on what any of that means. He could have dealt with this one, too.

But the pain and grief he feels from the first memory -- not to mention how unsettling this Bro guy's face is -- intertwine in a particularly overwhelming manner with the sheer terror of the second memory, leaving Dirk standing stock-still, unsure of what to do. ]

[Dave doesn't wait for a response from the other. He just yanks the two charms off the others' bracelet and shoves the one that Dirk was trying to give him into Dirk's hand.

He's obviously upset with Dirk and he doesn't wait for a response from Dirk as he just clips the two memories back onto his own bracelet.

It doesn't seem Dave intends to have Dirk even mention either because he's already trying to abscond. Probably to his room or anywhere else in the general vicinity. Just somewhere so the subject of what were in the memories don't come up.]

[ Honestly there's nothing Dirk has to say after all of that. Once the memories are gone he just stares down at his bracelet, blinking in confusion.

He doesn't go after Dave. Now is pretty much the worst possible time for that. Instead, he turns to head to the gym. He needs a good swim to clear his head. ]
