So as disconcerting as it is to suddenly "remember" coming face to face with a corpse that looks remarkably like himself, he could have dealt with it.
The other one, he doesn't really know what to make of. Though he's sure it's the one he'd been trying for: He's watching this all through the eyes of a dead doomed Dave in a dream bubble, though he's still not 100% clear on what any of that means. He could have dealt with this one, too.
But the pain and grief he feels from the first memory -- not to mention how unsettling this Bro guy's face is -- intertwine in a particularly overwhelming manner with the sheer terror of the second memory, leaving Dirk standing stock-still, unsure of what to do. ]
